Our Founding Story

As I look back on my formative years, I noticed how my Chinese heritage seemed to fade into the background, like a delicate thread unraveling with each passing day. Growing up, the lack of Chinese representation in mainstream media left me feeling adrift, as if my cultural roots were slowly slipping away, unnoticed and uncelebrated.

The absence of Chinese faces on TV screens, in music, and within the pages of literature only exacerbated this sense of isolation, leaving me longing for a connection to my Chinese origins that seemed increasingly out of reach. Caught between two worlds, I struggled to reconcile my dual British Chinese identity. It wasn't until the world was rocked by the Covid-19 pandemic that I was forced to confront my British Chinese identity head-on. In the midst of chaos and uncertainty, I found myself grappling with questions of belonging and heritage, seeking solace in a community that seems elusive, almost non-existent.

Driven by a deep-seated longing to connect with others who shared similar experiences, I yearned for a space where we could come together, united by our shared heritage and collective journey. I envisioned a community where we could uplift and support one another, sharing our stories of struggle and triumph as we navigated the complexities of our dual identity.
